Colonic FAQs

Colonic  Hydrotherapy is fast becoming a popular way to detox from our busy and often stressful lifestyles. People are looking for natural ways to enhance and optimise their current health status. Colonic Hydrotherapy (also known as Colonic Irrigation) is an ancient practised art that technology has modernised and sanitised.

Our greater understanding of anatomy, physiology and gut bacterial health has enhanced clinical outcomes tremendously.

Clients frequently comment on how light and energised they feel after a program of colonic care. Colonic Hydrotherapy addresses a range of colonic issues, the most common being sluggish and irregular bowel movements.

Below are some common FAQs people ask, simply click the link to read your area of interest.

Colonic FAQs

Quick FAQs

How long will the colonic session take? – the appointments are booked for an hour, the actual treatment time itself will be between 30-40mins.

Your 1st appointment will include a discussion about your health history, digestive function, and your reason for your visit and an overview of the treatment. With subsequent appointments, your colonic hydrotherapist will touch base prior to starting the session to see how you have been since the last treatment.

The treatment itself will last 30 – 40 minutes & you will also have time before & after to use the toilet, get changed and not feel rushed.

How will I feel after a colonic? – well, that can change from person to person and treatment to treatment. Most people feel energised, lighter & brighter. But, sometimes after a big session where you have released a lot of old faecal matter, you might feel a bit tired or even a bit cold (its always a good idea to have something warm with you to wear). If this happens it’s simply a detox response after the elimination of all the stored waste – a warm cup of tea, a soup, water or a fresh fruit/veggie juice will be helpful if this occurs.

Can I have a colonic while I have my period? – yes, you most certainly can. In fact, it’s a great time to have a treatment as your body is in a natural cleansing and shedding cycle.

What will my bowel movements be like after a colonic? – this varies from client to client and is dependent on factors such as bowel transit time, bowel motility, bowel habits etc. – some people will move their bowels the next day, others may miss 1-2 days. (please discuss this further with your colonic hydrotherapist).

How many colonic treatments will I need or should I have? –This varies greatly from client to client depending on digestive/colon health, overall general health, health goals and the response to the initial treatment. In most cases, the initial suggested protocol is 3 treatments fairly close together to assist with a deeper and more comprehensive cleansing of the accumulated toxins and waste… which considering most people can carry up to 2-4kgs of old faecal matter in their bowel at any one time is a good idea! Having said that, a single session may be all that might be required. After the initial session, the colonic hydrotherapist will be in a much better position to answer this question more accurately.
