Claiming from private health insurance

Our Podiatrist Dr Ella Wright is registered with all leading private health insurance funds, so providing you have adequate cover, you will be able to claim for her services on the day.

We provide “HICAPS” facilities which is an electronic claiming system that allows you to process and finalise your claim on the spot after your consultation, leaving you to pay the gap only.

Podiatry claiming is a little more complicated as there are many items you may be eligible to claim with your insurance, a little like dentistry. Meaning you may be able to claim additional items in conjunction with your consultation fees. Dr Ella always takes great care to make sure you are able to claim all your entitlements to so you don’t miss out on any benefits your health insurance will reimburse. As an example, if you attended for a consultation and during that visit, Dr Ella recommends a CAM Moon Boot, reception staff would process 2 items codes, one for the podiatry visit, and the other for the CAM Boot. This way you receive 2 rebates rather than just the one.

We offer on the spot claiming, providing, you present your insurance card at the time of claiming and are covered for Podiatry services. Fees are due and payable on the day eliminating costly bookkeeping and billing expenses enabling us to pass on this savings to our clients.

Your level of cover will determine your rebate entitlement so always best to check directly with your insurance company (as we can’t due to privacy laws) so there are no surprises!  To view our service fees with associated insurance item numbers click here or to view our quality health products and supports click here.

Claiming from WorkSafe (WorkCover) and TAC (Transport Accident Commission)

Podiatry services are covered by Worksafe & TAC providing you have an active claim. All services are paid on the day and are charged at the usual rate as private patients. Once you receive your receipt, submit it to the relevant authority for reimbursement.

Please note: We are not responsible for the amount reimbursed as it is a matter between yourself and the relevant authority. It is strongly recommended that you make reasonable enquiries with respect to your medical entitlements before any appointments are made.

Claiming Podiatry from Medicare

Did you know that Medicare will pay a maximum of 5 visits for Podiatry services each year?

To claim this benefit, your GP must first refer you to our clinic under the “EPC” scheme. After treatment, simply take your paid receipt to your closet Medicare outlet and claim your Medicare rebate. Alternatively, you can save time by processing your own Medicare rebate using the Medicare Mobile App. Simply download and log into the myGovID app using your smartphone and process all your medicare rebates instantly.

If your GP does not refer you under the medicare EPC scheme or fails to lodges the EPC paperwork correctly, then rebates will not be provided by the government. Next time you see your GP,  ask if you qualify for the Enhanced Primary Care Program (EPC),

Please note: Brunswick Health is not responsible for the amount reimbursed as it is a matter between yourself, your GP and Medicare. It is strongly recommended that you make reasonable enquiries with respect to your medical entitlements before any appointments.

Claiming Podiatry from DVA (Department Of Veterans Affairs)

All Veterans Affairs (DVA) consultations are bulk billed providing the claim is approved by DVA.

The following conditions apply for treatment under the DVA:

You may be eligible to receive DVA-funded podiatry care if you are either a gold card or a white cardholder. Check with your GP, or hospital discharge doctor if you are entitled to DVA’s Allied Health Services Podiatry Treatment Cycle. Each referral lasts for up to 12 sessions or 12 months, whichever ends first and there are no limits to the number of treatment cycles you can have.

The goal of your first Podiatry appointment is to complete a comprehensive leg and foot health Assessment. This includes a full review of your lower limb from your hips to your feet and addresses any concerns you may have so we can form a treatment plan of how best to help you.

Once your assessment is complete and we have begun treatment, our Podiatrist will contact your referring doctor and keep them fully informed of all clinical findings and treatment recommendations.

Claiming from the National Disability Insurance Scheme (ndis)

There are essentially 3 ways you can use ndis funding once you qualify for the national disability scheme.

Option 1: Self Managed Funds ~ This is when ndis provides a certain amount of funding directly to the person to use for any health services they wish to attend. This means the person receiving Podiatry treatment directly pays the practitioner at the time of treatment.

Option 2: Plan Managed Funds ~ This is when an ndis financial intermediator company directly reimburses health practitioners. This means the company that manages the person’s ndis funds pay on behalf of the person receiving treatment. Usually, an account is sent to the company requesting payment for Podiatry services rendered.

Option 3: Agency Managed Funds ~ This is when a ndis registered health provider deals directly with the government’s ndis department. The registration and payment process is long and convoluted, hence many health practitioners opt not to pursue ndis provider registration.

At Brunswick Health we can only participate if the ndis eligible individual is either plan-managed or self-managed (Options 1 or 2). If you are not sure best to contact your ndis Local Area Coordinator (LAC) and ask for a review of your plan and further information.
