SWEP ~ State Wide Equipment Program

More coming soon!

Please note that when the term “Equipment” is used in this article, it is in relation to “Assistive Technology”, meaning equipment specifically designed to assist a person’s restricted mobility in order to enhance independence and improve their overall function. If it does not meet this strict criterion, then it will be excluded from the SWEP program

Who is eligible for SWEP funding?

  • Are a permanent Victorian Resident
  • Are frail aged
  • Have a long term or permanent disability
  • Do not receive other government funding for equipment from Worksafe or TAC (Transport Accident Commission)

  • You live in an aged care facility or currently an inpatient in a public or private hospital
  • You can claim the full cost of the equipment through their private health insurance (SWEP may pay any gap as long as it doesn’t exceed their maximum subsidy for that item)
  • You have funds leftover from a legal settlement or have been court awarded funds that will cover the costs for the equipment.
