Sara Canney

Colonic Hydrotherapist & Naturopath

Sara Canney ~ Naturopath & Senior Consultant Colonic Hydrotherapist

Sara Canney is a highly experienced naturopath whose career spans over 15 years of clinical practice, international collaboration, and a genuine passion for helping people reclaim their health naturally.

Sara has been a practising naturopath since 2008, beginning her career in Sydney at a busy clinic in Potts Point, where she developed a strong clinical focus in digestive health, mood, stress, fatigue, and immune support.

In 2010, she expanded her experience by working in Thailand at a respected detox retreat on Koh Samui, where she spent 18 months managing detox and wellness programs. This experience enriched both her professional practice and personal perspective, while allowing her to work with clients from diverse backgrounds and alongside highly experienced international practitioners.

After returning to Australia in 2012, Sara trained in closed-system colon hydrotherapy and has since offered colon hydrotherapy in conjunction with her naturopathic practice. Her interest in this area was sparked early in her career and further strengthened through her work with exceptional practitioners in Australia and Thailand, where she observed the valuable role colonics can play in supporting broader health outcomes.

Clinical Focus

Sara’s clinical focus includes digestive concerns such as constipation, irregular bowel motility, IBS, candida, SIBO, inflammatory bowel conditions, intestinal permeability, bloating, and associated skin concerns. She also supports clients experiencing burnout, chronic stress, low mood, anxiety, hormonal imbalances, allergies, and both acute and chronic immune challenges.

Approach

Her naturopathic approach looks beyond symptoms to uncover the root cause of illness, creating personalised treatment plans that support lasting, whole-body wellness. Sara combines evidence-informed dietary and lifestyle guidance, herbal medicine, nutritional supplementation, and practical strategies designed to support sustainable, long-term change. Where appropriate, she may recommend pathology testing or functional assessments, including microbiome testing, to help identify underlying imbalances and guide treatment.

Recognition

Sara’s expertise has been recognised beyond the clinic. She has contributed health articles to Cosmopolitan Magazine and Australian Natural Health Magazine, and has worked alongside some of Australia’s and the world’s leading naturopaths and wellness practitioners throughout her career.
