Studies Show Chiropractic’s Positive Impact on Migraines

Despite its prevalence, migraines are still one of the most poorly understood disorders predominantly because experiences of those suffering from migraines vary greatly.

Some describe throbbing, searing pain, “auras” prior to onset, bizarre visual disturbances, nausea, vomiting, fever, chills, sweating, and/or sensitivity to light, sound, and smells. Most Chiropractors have seen a variety of symptoms over their careers and the most importantly a thorough examination must take place to exclude other conditions that can mimic Migraines. Chiropractic has the ability to change lives for Migraine suffers for the better.

A 1999 study of 127 migraine sufferers in Australia found that those that received chiropractic treatment had fewer attacks and needed to take less medication. Group 1 received chiropractic adjustments at specific vertebral subluxations determined by the treating chiropractor, while group 2 served as controls and received inactive treatment (electrical stimulation with no electrical current delivered). The conclusion of the studies showed Chiropractic Care had a positive impact on migraines.
